Performer : Parma Violet

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Parma Violet AKA Saffron Shearer-Gare began her foray into performance at the tender age of 13 when she first got up to tap dance as Columbia at a screening of the Rocky Horror Picture Show in her home town of Glasgow. A pot of pink hair dye, a lot of sequins and some twenty years later, she discovered she had been doing Burlesque all those years without knowing it.

After an inspiring trip to TEASEORAMA in San Francisco in 2002, she and her husband Al Palooka decided Blighty needed some more Burly action, there then only being four clubs in the UK. Together they started The Candy Box Burlesque Club in Birmingham in 2006 with house gogo troupe The Candied Heels and the 13 piece Palookaville! Burlesque Orchestra with singer Imelda May. The rest is history. Despite now juggling being a mum to Tallulah Violet, working at the B’ham Hippodrome theatre and making costumes and wedding dresses, Saff still has time for Burly.

Her motto is ” Don’t Dream it, Be it” closely followed by ” Tits and Teeth, everyone!”

Performer : Velma Von BonBon

Monday, August 16th, 2010

The first of our performers to be profiled is a rising star and local girl made good, or perhaps “local bad girl made good ”
First staggering bambi-legged and doe eyed onto the burlesque circuit in late 2009, it was immediately obvious Velma Von Bon Bon was destined for the top. Velma’s comedic style is a cheeky bottom flash at the stoics of society and her inventive antics have lit up stages across the northwest. She was awarded winner of the prestigious Tournament of Tease July heat, cementing her growing reputation while  proving what we’ve known for a while: that Velma brings something new and exciting to the burlesque world.

No wonder then that she has been shaking her booty in exotic locations as diverse as Leeds and Huddersfield!

If this pint sized pocket rocket can’t put I’ll smile on your face she’ll eat your hat!
When not burlesquing, Velma can be found fiddling on her purple fiddle with hottest all girl jazz band in town, the “Flamin’ Mamies”.

Performing : Bella Besame !

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

Sketchy people, we are now closing in on our very first event and here’s the last but not the least of our performers. The sassy Bella Besame

Bella Besame packs her  high energy  raunchy routines with stylish sass and she has a great ass.  Bella has been a lynchpin of the northwest burlesque scene for many years and is both a promoter, performer and teacher of burlesque.

When she isn’t travelling the country teaching ladies the art of the tease, running her fabulously successful Slippery Belle nights or dazzling audiences with her tassel twirling she can be found sipping chamagne and scoffing cheesecake!

Our performer – Miss Scarlett Daggers

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Two weeks to go ladies and gentlemen, only two weeks to the first ever Dr Sketchy.

We here at Kinky Darling thought you would like to know a little more about our second performer the tattooed dream of the rockabilly scene Miss Scarlett Daggers.

A performer since 2005 and Co-Producer of Dr Sketchy Nottingham since 2009 Scarlett’s gentle ladylike elegance is matched with her red hot naughtiness and sizzling  charms.

Her stunning costumes encapsulate one of the tiniest waists in UK’s burlesque scene and with her boundless energy she whirls across the country in a flurry of glitter and broken hearts.

(Please note that kinky Darling can not be held responsible for any hearts broken patrons, our responsible for their own hearts.)
